Cost of Concrete Finishing

One of the first questions new customers always ask us when making any sort of inquiry is “How much will it cost?” It’s a question which is difficult to answer without more information. Usually our team has to visit your site or building to assess your needs and to measure the location you want concreted. Concrete prices are far more economical than other options, so we are pretty sure that no matter the type of project and finishing required, our quote will be extremely competitive. Over the many years we have been a concrete contractor, we have dealt with virtually every type of project and submitted quotes to suit every level of budget. Find out more and get in touch now.

The Five Main Parts to the Process

To give you an idea of how pricing works, it helps to know what the different parts of the concreting process are. The concrete itself is the costliest part of the entire process. Costs vary but to give you an idea, it can be between $100 and $120 for a cubic yard of fresh concrete. The second thing to consider is if your location needs any prep work. Outdoors, you may need grading work and dirt moved. If it is an indoor project, you may need special cleaning and surface preparation. Grading typically can run about $50-$60 per hour. An outdoor site will also need a gravel sub-base, and this can cost around $15 a cubic yard. Labor is the biggest cost for the pouring and finishing stages, and you can figure around $2 per square foot for that. The last of the five is wire reinforcing to prevent cracking, and that will be approximately $0.20 per square foot.

Type of Finishing

The type of finishing you decide on will also affect the final price. Once you have factored in the other costs we have mentioned, then finishing is your final consideration. The more complicated the finish, the more labor intensive it is and thus the longer it takes. So your labor costs are the big variable here. A basic trowel or broom finish is the simplest finish and needs the least labor. Stamped concrete is the most intricate of finishes available, and will cost more in time and labor.

Extra Costs

As well as the type of finishing you choose, please remember that there may be additional costs depending on the decision you have made. If there is any requirement for extra services such as staining, sealing, or adding curing compounds, then these extra services need to be figured into your total finishing costs.
